When visiting Niagara Falls State Park, consider buying a Discovery Pass for $45 per person. It covers 5 attractions: The Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, Aquarium, Niagara: Legends of Adventure Movie, Niagara Gorge Discovery Center. This Pass is available on the New York side of the park.
Our first day in Niagara Falls we went on the Maid of the Mist boat ride. It is one of the oldest tourist attractions in North America. The first boat was christened in 1846 as ferry service between New York City and York (Toronto) Canada. In 1848, it was decided to make it a sight-seeing trip since a new suspension bridge between the two countries took away some of the ferry traffic.
The journey begins in the calm section of Niagara Falls near Rainbow Bridge, passes American and Bridal Veil Falls then into the curve of the Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls and the dense mist. It’s a very cool trip.
