Flashback Friday - The Bahamas

My Mom and Dad, George and Audrey Frohman, were married on May 4, 1963. They honeymooned for 3 weeks, if I remember the story correctly, driving from Pennsylvania down to Florida and taking a boat to The Bahamas. My husband, Ed, and I were married December 9, 2000. And we honeymooned for a week in The Bahamas. Quite a coincidence as Ed didn't know my parents had gone there.



So here are some fun photos to compare.

Here are my parents' original tickets for the boat. Those were the days when receipts were hand-written.


Fun Bahama facts:

  • Officially known as the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
  • Capital City is Nassau, located on New Providence
  • Became a British Crown Colony in 1718
  • Independent Commonwealth in 1973, but retaining Queen Elizabeth as monarch
  • Island country of the Lucayan Archipelago
  • More than 700 islands
  • Edward Teach, the legendary Blackbeard the Pirate, lived in Nassau
  • Less than 100 miles off the coast of Florida, north of Cuba
  • On the edge of the infamous Bermuda Triangle
  • Some think the Lost City of Atlantis was near Bimini
