Flashback Friday - Williamsburg and Busch Gardens in Virginia

In 1988, Margaret and I took a Starr Tours bus tour to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens in Virginia. Those were the days we were testing the waters before we went out on our own. And traveling by bus has some advantages and disadvantages.

It's great not to worry about driving and not missing any of the top tourist attractions. You can have a lot of fun with a busload of people. On the other hand, you're always on a schedule and have to rush through things you would like to linger on. Whichever way you travel, Virginia is a fun place to visit!

Williamsburg was a huge part of the American Revolution:

  • Named after King William III of England

  • Capital of the Virginia Colony from 1699 to 1780

  • Cultural, social, and political center during colonial times

  • College of William and Mary - second oldest college in the US

  • One point of historical triangle - including Jamestown and Yorktown

There is a Busch Theme Park in Williamsburg, Virginia and one in Tampa, Florida.

Busch Gardens features rides for everyone from roller coasters to splashing through Pompeii's ruins to a train ride through the park. There are plenty of shows featuring animals, dancers, and more.

And Busch Gardens features charming European countries including Germany, Italy, Scotland, France, England, and Canada (New France).
